Naturally, opinions differ on the war in Iraq.
But, we believe in supporting our warriors and their families.
These people are our sons and daughters, our relatives, our
friends, our neighbors—all our fellow Americans.
Consider that base pay for a private with one
year of service is a little over $15,000. That seems a little
low to risk their life for the country. There are benefits,
of course. These include insurance, taxes, housing and training.
There’s even a $150 per month bonus for combat pay.
Sadly, returning disabled soldiers often find
that death benefits would have delivered more predictable support
to their families.
Ryan Kelly, who lost his left leg below the
knee, makes about $20,000 a year as a staff sergeant. Once he
leaves the army, he will receive about $8000 a year in benefits.
Being simultaneously forced out of the military
and attempting to live on half of the income previously earned
is a devastating blow to veterans and/or their families.
Let Freedom Reign,
Inc. steps in with financial help needed by
families who are struggling with the loss of or injury to a
loved one. In concert with all branches of the military, we
identify those likely to fall through the cracks of the government’s
bureaucracy to provide critical support necessary to eliminate
undue stress and provide a successful and productive transition
back to civilian life.
Grant recipients will be selected in accordance
with criteria established by Let
Freedom Reign, Inc. All proceeds
will be disbursed.
